The Restaurant at Sierra Grande, a Ted Turner Retreat, Reopens

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, NEW MEXICO, UNITED STATES (January 27, 2023) – Following a nearly three-year closure due to the COVID pandemic, The Restaurant at Sierra Grande reopens under the direction of new Food and Beverage Manager, Barbara Portillo, and General Manager of Southern New Mexico Operations, June Strange. The Restaurant will offer daily breakfast from 7am-12pm, expanded weekend brunch from 7am-1pm and dinner Friday through Sunday from 5pm-9pm.

“We are excited to not only expand our culinary offerings for our guests at Sierra Grande, but also to welcome back the local community” said Strange. “The Restaurant at Sierra Grande will bring additional employment opportunities and offer a welcoming gathering place for the residents of Sierra County.”

The Restaurant’s menu will focus on clean, healthful selections, with a contemporary southwestern flair. Offerings include a variety of salads, sandwiches, and healthful bowls. “Ingredients will be sourced as locally and sustainably as possible, and vegetarian and vegan offerings will be a standard” said Portillo, who is also The Restaurant’s head chef.

Paying homage to its proprietor, philanthropist Ted Turner, and in New Mexico tradition, a Green Chili Bison Burger will be a standing feature, along with returning Sierra Grande favorite, Pecan-Crusted Rellenos. A selection of local craft beers and expertly paired wines will be offered daily.
