Vermejo Wins Condé Nast Traveler’s Inaugural Triple Crown Award
Vermejo is the closest thing to a private national park. Part of Ted Turner's conservation-driven reserve portfolio, the property spans a staggering 558,000 acres—roughly twice the size of Grand Teton National Park—across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in northern New Mexico. The terrain rolls from shortgrass prairie to 13,000-foot alpine peaks, its valleys populated by herds of bison, elk, and feral horses.
